Sales of excavators increased 60% year-on-year in May 2018, leading domestic brands to take the lead
In May 2018, 24 major excavator manufacturers included in the statistics sold a total of 19,000 excavators, an increase of 71.3% year-on-year. At the same time, this sales also exceeded 16,000 units in June 2010, setting a new record high in the same month. From January to May, the cumulative sales volume of excavators was close to 106,000 units, an increase of 60.2% year-on-year. Compared with the same period of 2011, there were only more than 10,000 units. Looking at the current trend, the sales volume for the whole year is expected to hit a record high.

From the perspective of brand competition, Sany’s sales volume reached more than 4,300 units in May, accounting for 22.4% of total sales, and continued to sit at the top spot; after that, Caterpillar and XCMG’s sales were both over 2,500 units; sales were over a thousand units. Doosan, Shandong Lingong and Liugong.
In the first five months of this year, the top six brands sold by the market were Sany Heavy Machinery, Caterpillar, Xugong, Doosan, Liugong, and Shandong Lingong. Compared to the same period of last year, the domestic brands on the list increased from 2 to 4 .
Judging from the overall trend, the market concentration continues to show an upward trend. The top four brand share has increased from 53% last year to 55% in May of the previous year; the share of domestic brands has increased from 52% last year to the fifth year so far. 54% of the month.

In terms of regional sales, sales in Shandong, Jiangsu, Henan, Sichuan, and Anhui exceeded 1,000 units in May, while sales in 11 provinces exceeded 500 units.
In the first five months, Jiangsu and Shandong ranked the top two with more than 7,400 units sold, while Sichuan, Henan, Anhui, Henan, and Hubei provinces sold more than 5,000 units.
In May, 1523 excavators were exported, an increase of 95.3% year-on-year. In the first five months of the year, excavator exports totaled nearly 7,200, a two-fold increase year-on-year.

In the first five months, the sales volume of small, medium, and large-sized excavation exports were about 2,100, 3,600, and 1,400, respectively, of which 2,900 were exported in the interval 19.5<a≤24.9, accounting for nearly 40% of the total export volume.
From the sales performance of stand-alone models, in the first five months, the Trinity SY75C-10 led the way with sales of about 5,000 units. The top ten models sold accounted for five models, Xugong two models, Doosan, Caterpillar and Shandong Lingong. There is one each.
